Relaxation and Swedish Massage
Basic Massage techniques such as stroking, kneading, and rubbing stimulate physical and emotional healing by releasing tensions and by increasing the blood flow on the part of the body that is being massaged.
Relaxed muscles get their toxins removed and good nutriments like oxygen can come to feed them.
Swedish massage was developed in the 1700's by a Swedish doctor named Per Henrik Ling. The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.
Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish Massage also stimulates the skin and soothes the nerves at the same time. It reduces emotional and physical stress when used regularly.
Deep Tissue or Therapeutic Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue or tendons.
The deep pressure is applied on the contracted areas to force the muscle fibers to relax using a reflex reaction.
It is done through slow strokes and deep finger or elbow pressure either following or going across the fibers of the muscles, tendons and fascia.
Deep tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, if the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two.
When muscles are continually contracted, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly. Because many toxins are released, it's important to drink plenty of water after a deep-tissue session to help eliminate these toxins from the body.
Raindrop Massage Using Young Living Essential oils
Inspired by The Raindrop Technique developed by D. Gary Young in the 1980s. It involves applying therapeutic grade essential oils to the spine, neck and feet. The oils are actually dropped from about 6 inches above your spine, simulating rain drops! It is very relaxing and comforting.
The technique is using several modalities like Aromatherapy (2 blends and 7 single oils), Vita Flex Technique (an ancient Tibetan methodology meaning "vitality through the reflexes "). Feather Stroking termed by the Native American Lakota Indians - This is similar to a massage called effleurage.
The oils used are Valor, Oregano, Thyme, Cypress, Wintergreen, Basil, Peppermint, Marjoram and AromaSiez.
What are the Benefits of Raindrop Technique?
Balance and Re-align the Energy Centers of the Body
Reduce Stress and Minor Anxiety
Aid the Body's Natural Response to Irritation and Injury
Eases Muscle Discomfort after Exercise
Support Healthy Immune System
Emotional Well Being and Release
Help Detox the Body Systems
And many more as the treatment could be tailored to specific issues, using different oils.

Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones.
They are often basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well.
It is a deeply soothing, the ultimate relaxing form of massage. The heat helps tight muscles to relax
The stones are heated in 120-150 degree water.
Traditional strokes of Swedish massage while holding a heated stone are used.
As the stone cools, the therapist replaces it with another.
The therapist might also leave heated stones in specific points along your spine, or on your chakra points,
or in the palms of your hand, or on the sole of your feet, or even between your toes to improve the flow of energy in your body.
This is an old therapy dating back 5000 years from India and most certainly also used in the Mayan culture.
The hot stones have a tendency to relax the muscles and “draw out” muscle pain and discomfort.
A hot stone massage is more expensive than a basic massage because it requires more preparation.
Shiatsu is a Japanese word. It means ‘finger pressure’. Pressure is applied to the areas of energy lines (meridians) on back, legs and arms, to promote good health by 'stimulating the body’s energy flow (Ki)'.
A Shiatsu session usually lasts 1 hour.
At Magic Fingers, the session takes place on a massage table, the patient fully clothed.
The purpose of the Shiatsu session offered at Magic Fingers Clinic is not therapeutic. It is a way of balancing the energy and is very recommended to get your energy back when anyone fills run down or exhausted.
Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and regular Shiatsu sessions help to prevent the build-up of stress in our daily lives.
Sports Massage is a series of techniques used to help enhance the athlete's performance, prevent overuse injuries and to help rehabilitate injuries.
Sports Massage may contribute to the athletes ability to train more often, at a higher intensity and with a lesser chance of injury and muscle soreness. The techniques used help to increase circulation, promote lymphatic circulation, increase flexibility and range of motion, relieve muscle soreness and pain.
Sports Massages can be used as Pre-event, Post-event or for maintenance as part of a regular training program
helping the athlete to keep muscles loose, increasing blood flow to the tissue, decreasing scar tissue and helping increased flexibility
The goal of Sports Massage is to maximize athletic performance.
The massage is focused on the type of activity performed by the athlete.
This technique originated in Australia where it was developed by Tom Bowen, a Manipulative Therapist. From the 1950s into the 1980s he worked on thousands of patients. He even found the technique to be very beneficial at treating dogs, horses, and many other animals. In 1975, spurred by many skeptical concerns about the technique’s effectiveness, the Victorian government conducted an inquiry into Tom Bowen’s practice and discovered that he was successfully treating 13,000 patients per year with this technique. The investigation also found that a majority of these results were being obtained in only two to three sessions per client. Before he died in 1982 he trained Oswald Rentsch, an osteopath, in the technique. He asked Rentsch to go out and teach it to the rest of the world. He is currently doing this with his wife Elaine. Together they have taught Bowen in over 15 countries including Canada.
Bowen helps to balance and stimulate the flow of energy through the body. For many people Bowen therapy interrupts what is known as the “pain-spasm” cycle that occurs with an injury or disease. Once this cycle is broken both pain and muscle spasm begin to subside and patients experience substantial relief from many of their symptoms.
In Bowen, the routine of applying the moves and then leaving the room is unique and necessary. These short pauses between sets of moves allow the body to fully integrate the stimulus received. This stimulus triggers the parasympathetic nervous system and puts the body into a state of deep relaxation where it can heal and balance itself by finding homeostasis and achieving a total sense of health and well-being.
One of the wonderful principles of this modality is that “less is more.” The essence of Bowen is simple, yet highly effective. The moves are light, and it only takes a few precisely located moves to achieve profound results. Bowen is also holistic, working to heal the body not only on the physical plane, but on the mental and emotional levels as well.
Sessions are commonly spaced seven days apart and are safe for anyone from the newborn to the elderly since there are no vigorous manipulations and few contraindications to this modality.
Although Bowen may not be the miracle cure for everyone, without a doubt everyone who tries Bowen will benefit from it in some way as its primary aim is to put the body into a deeply relaxed state so that it may heal naturally, on its own.
Dr William Sutherland, ostheopath, dicovered over 100 years ago, that at a deep level of our physiological functioning all healthy, living tissues subtly "breathe" with the motion of life - a phenomenon that produces rhythmic impulses which can be palpated by sensitive hands. Contrary to popular belief Dr Sutherland realized that cranial sutures were, in fact, designed to express small degrees of motion. After many years of research he demonstrated the existence of this motion, which he referred to as the "Breath of Life." Furthermore, Dr Sutherland discovered that the motion of cranial bones is closely connected to subtle movements that involve a network of interrelated tissues and fluids at the core of the body; including cerebrospinal fluid (the 'sap in the tree'), the central nervous system, the membranes that surround the central nervous system and the sacrum.
Dr Sutherland realized the important role played by the fluids in the body (particularly cerebrospinal fluid) in helping to disseminate the subtle rhythms produced by the Breath of Life throughout the body.
Thus, the ability of cells and tissues to express their primary respiratory motion is a critical factor in determining our state of health.
During the course of our lives our bodies become conditioned according to how we’re able to deal with any stresses or traumas. If stresses or traumas are overwhelming, they become locked in the body as sites of inertia. These sites of inertia affect the natural rhythmical movements of the Breath of Life and so hinder the ability for health to manifest at a cellular level.
The practitioner by "listening through the hands" to the body's subtle rhythms will find patterns of inertia or congestion, places where issues are held and then follow the natural priorities for healing.
This is done in a non-invasive way as the practitioner subtly and gently encourages the conditions that allow for the reemergence of primary respiratory motion.
The craniosacral therapy offers at Magic Fingers Clinic is usually combined with massage therapy to help with any neck condition, insomnia, stress, headaches and migraines.
Jin Shin Jyutsu®
is the ancient art of harmonizing body, mind and spirit with gentle touch. Literally translated, it means, "Art of the Creator through compassionate and knowing man." This simple, yet incredibly powerful art was rediscovered in Japan in the beginning of the twentieth century by Jiro Murai, and brought to the west by Mary Burmeister in the 1950s.
Jin Shin Jyutsu is an invaluable complement to conventional healing methods, inducing relaxation, reducing the effects of stress, and assisting our innate healing capacity. Stress has been widely recognized as causing everything from minor aches and pains to chronic health problems. The deep relaxation derived from Jin Shin brings balance to the body's energies, allowing the body to function better, feel better and heal more quickly.
Jin Shin Jyutsu is applied by a trained practitioner, and as self-help. It is a gentle art, practiced by placing the fingertips (over clothing) on designated energy locks in specific combination, to harmonize and restore the energy flow. This facilitates the reduction of tension and stress which accumulate through normal daily living.
A Jin Shin Jyutsu session generally lasts an hour, and does not involve massage or use of substances.
There is no pain or physical manipulation. The practitioner uses his/her hands and "jumper cables" the energy in order to recharge the "battery of life", enabling universal energy to flow through the client's body and reawaken its natural healing ability.
As simple as this technique is, it yields amazing results physically, as well as emotionally. It is effective in relieving pain; stiff, spastic, or strained muscles and joints; respiratory conditions; appetite imbalance; reproductive difficulties and much more. It has a dramatic effect on emotional problems, and people frequently have experiences of spiritual integration during or after a session.
Unlike other " alternative treatments," Jin Shin is not simply a mechanical technique. It is an art, a philosophy, an involvement with the body's total harmony as it relates to well-being. This explains it's greater complexity, subtlety, and more extensive effects.
Jin Shin Jyutsu has a long history, and a growing following around the world.
"There are no incurable diseases, only incurable people."
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
MLD involves light, rhythmical massage that aids the body in collecting and moving lymphatic fluid, carrying away toxins and bacteria bringing in white blood cells (lymph fluid) that act as our immune system. Consisting of lymph nodes and channels, the lymphatic system acts as a sanitation system filtering and transporting the dirty cells to the kidneys and liver for elimination. It takes approximately 24 hours for the body to process about three quarts of lymphatic fluid. When you add an injury, infection or surgery where lymph nodes are removed, the flow of fluid is hindered; hence you get edema (swelling).
With manual lymphatic massage (MLD), versus “mechanically” induced, the effectiveness of the lymphatic system can be enhanced by manually assisting the flow, pushing the toxins and waste products through.
The beauty of this technique is that it is slow, rhythmic and gentle, so relaxation is assured. As with any other massage technique, MLD can reduce the effects of depression and anxiety brought on by stress, thereby improving sleep.
The technique, therefore, is gentle and specific to the flow pattern for a particular area, thus, in the field of massage therapy, you need to have advanced training.
When you injure yourself or go under surgery you are most likely going to suffer from pain. If you take pain killer pills you are treating only the symptom not the root cause of the pain. Laser Therapy treats the condition at the cellular level. Consequently, by stimulating the tissues own healing power, the pain goes away.
If your life is affected by any chronic pain like tendonitis, sciatica, a shoulder injury, arthritis, plantar fasciitis, tendon tears, bursitis, degenerative disc disease, whiplash, carpal tunnel syndrome, herniated disc, or TMJ syndrome, Laser Therapy can help you get back a normal life.
Suffering from a sports injury? You will cut by half the time it will take you to get back to your activity, when using Laser Therapy, than waiting for the injury to heal on its own.
Laser Therapy treats the underlying condition to promote healing.
Cold laser therapy is a non-invasive procedure, meaning that it does not require a surgical incision,
so no prolonged recovery time.
Laser therapy is the use of light emission from a low intensity laser diode using different light spectrum like Red, Infra-Red, violet or the combination of them to treat musculoskeletal injuries, chronic and degenerative conditions and to heal wounds. The light source is placed closed to or in contact with the skin allowing the photon energy to penetrate the tissue. The Scalar Quantum Wave laser seeks to unwind the cell memory due to any kind of stress, resulting in the restoration of normal cell function and enhancement of the body’s healing processes.
Cold lasers rejuvenate the cells by gently donating energy in the form of photons, which then increases the energy molecule of the cell, called ATP, which in turn stimulates the cell to grow more efficiently.
The effect is cumulative and needs sufficient time of stimulation in order to initiate response. Typically 5-15 treatments varying from 30-60 minutes in duration are necessary.
Because every patient is different, results vary but most are getting their life back after few treatments.
The Scalar Quantum wave laser has been designed for the lay person and health practitioner alike. This laser is specifically conditioned to not only rejuvenate the cell, but also to unwind and clear cellular memory due to their advance use of violet light. (Violet light was used to de-code the DNA genome).
The end result of low intensity laser application is the restoration of normal function of the cell unit. Conversely, worldwide research did not record any negative effects from this process and that normally functioning cells are not negatively affected by the application. In contrast to other therapies, Low Intensity Laser Therapy is “curative” rather than trying to dissipate pain.
Everything happens at the level of the skin.
While a musculo-squeletal lesion is being formed, precise points at the level of the skin are being ‘deprogrammed’. A spasm appears blocking regular motion, affecting visceral functions and restricting blood and lymph flows.
When accessing corresponding key points at the skin level, the spasm will let go of its grasp consequently releasing all the tensions.
The state of tension can last for years. The reorganization of the key points by a short, quick and polarized vibrations (the Niromathé® method) at the level of the skin leads to the disappearance of these osteopathic lesions. As a comparison, acupuncturists use needles on acupuncture points to achieve the same results.
The Niromathé method is the synthesis of few therapies. The release of these points is obtained by a cutaneous vibration, while positioning the skin of the patient in the uncomfortable position.
This technique is fast (20 min), if painful, it is only superficial (we work on the skin only); easy to receive (done sitting or standing, clothes on), immediate effects, no contraindications
(we need to make sure the patient can be treated) and extremely powerful.
NIROMATHE® Method was born of the partnership between Dr Raymond Branly (MD) and Thierry Vandorme.
They are both French osteopathy practitioners since 1978 who learned also chiropractic and other similar therapies. The NIROMATHE® Method came in 1994 as a combination of the best of the previous therapies and many years of experience
The Kinesio Taping® Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. Latex-free, hypoallergenic and wearable for days at a time, Kinesio® Tex Tape is safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, for elite athletes or weekend warriors. It successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions.
The Kinesio® Taping Method is a therapeutic taping technique not only offering the patient the support they are looking for, but also rehabilitating the affected condition as well. By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, Kinesio® Tex Tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting effect forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas.
Kinesio Tape® is the original elastic adhesive tape developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase in 1979.
100% made from a gentle cotton fiber strip
100% medical grade acrylic adhesive
Does not limit range of motion
Multiple day wear time.
Tension on tape has the ability to relax or stimulate muscles.
Like the skin, Kinesio Tex tape is porous. The combination of the cotton latex free fabric and the wave pattern adhesive improves patient comfort by allowing the skin to breathe. The water resistant protectorate applied to the cotton fibers resists moisture penetration and allows for “quick drying”. This assures that the patient may shower and the tape will remain effective and in good position for three to five days.
The tape can’t be applied just after a massage, the oil would spoil the adhesion. The patient has to come after shower with no lotion on the skin.
